  • Summer 2025 Papermaking workshops at Anchorlight

    Decklebox Papermaking

    This workshop introduces methods for incorporating collage processes into handmade paper. Using a deckle box allows the possibility of composing in wet pulp. In addition to working with deckleboxes, students will learn sheet formation methods such as dipping, double couching and layering pulps. This workshop focuses on exploring creative methods such as embedding cloth and textile materials, combining pulps in a deckle box and using pigments. Students can expect to create a sampler of papers, as well as unique works using textile materials.

  • 2025 Summer Papermaking Workshops at Anchorlight

    Anchorlight Project Space
    Raleigh, NC

    Learn how to make sheets of paper from recycled textile materials and raw fibers used in textile fabrication such as abaca and flax. Paper has been made from used clothing, textile scraps and recycled materials for hundreds of years. Students will learn how to form sheets of paper from different base pulps adding textile materials to create texture, color and add visual and tactile interest. Using a variety of papermaking moulds (the frames used to form sheets), participants can expect to make a small stack of handmade paper suitable for book arts, drawing, and as artworks on their own.
